Ladakh is the paradise for nature lover, trek through the local village, gompas and local markets, As in this program we visit several monasteries belonging dates to the 11th Century. The monastery has a remarkable history and the surrounding area presents an interesting topography that is spread with yellow loose formation.The most famous and largest of all the Gompa built by Rinchen Zangpo in 11th Century. The monastery houses some of the best murals and frescoes representing the Kashmiri style of Buddhist iconography. Each monastery in Ladakh is distinct in itself and for those who wish to experience the uniqueness of Ladakhi monasteries this is an ideal opportunity.
DAY 01: ARRIVE LEH:-
Upon arrival at Leh Kushok Bakula Rinpochey Airport you will met our representative and transfer to Hotel for Check in. Complete day for rest and leisure to acclimatize as Leh is at an altitude of 11500 feet.Overnight at Hotel.
DAY 02: LEH (EXCURSION TO MONASTERIES):-
Post Breakfast we proceed for Indus Valley Monastery of Shey Palace, The ancient capital of Ladakh, Thiksey Monastery an impressive monastery complex rising tier upon tier on a hill above the village ,Hemis Monastery & Stok Palace. Overnight at Hotel.
DAY 03: LEH (EXCURSION TO KHARDUNGLA TOP – 18,390 Ft):-
Post Breakfast we drive to Khardung la, the highest motor able road in the world at 18,390 ft. is around 39 Kms away from Leh. The views from the top of the pass are amazing. Later in the afternoon at leisure for last day shopping and overnight stay at the hotel.
DAY 04: DAY HIKING(ACCLIMATIZATION):-
Today after the breakfast we go for a day hiking in purpose of Acclimatization. Visit Shanti Stupa(Peace Pagoda) build by Japanese Buddhism in 1982 in purpose of spread peace & harmony in the valley. Later we visit Sankar Gompa.200 year old Shankar monastery, which contains a plethora of impressive images, wall paintings and sculptures, including a huge statue of Aloketesvara-with 1000 arms & heads,Namgyla Gompa and Leh Palace. Overnight at Hotel.
Day 05: LEH TO LAMAYURU (125 Km/03 Hrs):-
After breakfast commence drive toward Lamayuru (3450m) around four hours drive. En route visit Rizong Monastery, before reaching Lamayuru we required the photocopy of your valid pass port. Upon arrival Lamayuru visit the monastery, below the monastery there is a nice camping ground where we camp for the night.
DAY 06: LAMAYURU TO WANLA VIA PRINKTI LA 3760 Mts (4.5 Hrs):-
After breakfast commence easy trek. the trail goes down to the stream, and then the track winds its way up through a barren gorge of yellow clay to the Prinkti-La (3706 m). Across the pass a steep descent leads you to a gorge which further takes you on to the entrance of village Wanla (3200m). The village houses a monastery dating back to the Lamayuru period. We camp at Wanla for the night.
DAY 07: WANLA TO HINJU 3750 Mts(05/6 Hrs):-
After breakfast commence the trek to Hinju, first part of the trek go through jeep track upstream towards Panjila village. The trail ascend toward Hinju follow a motorable road up to the small stream. Hinju (3750m). There are several campsites beyond the village and we camp here for the night.
DAY 08: HINJU TO SOMDHA CHENMO 3900 Mts(05Hrs):-
It’s a relatively easy climb for the first two hours above Hinju through several summer pastures. The trail leads upwards from the stream as we ascend to Kongske La (4900 m). The views from the top are worth the climb. Looming in the South are the peaks of Zanskar while in the north one can see the Nubra-Shayok peaks. The descent from the pass to the village of Sumdha Chenmo takes around two hours. The campsite (3900 m) is just below the vast grazing ground of yaks, sheep and goats.
DAY 09: SUMDHA CHENMO TO SUMDHA CHUN 5400 Mts(06/07Hrs):-
Today’s walk follows a trial that goes past many grazing areas with several stream crossings. The main trail involves four river crossings. The village of Sumdha Chun has a beautiful gompa.The village also has a settlement of metal workers who migrated here from Nepal nearly two hundred years ago. Our campsite is just beyond the village.
DAY 10: SUMDHA CHUN TO ALCHI VIA STAKSPI LA 4950 Mts(07 Hrs):-
From our campsite to the pass involves a steep climb for almost four hours with the last stretch over rocky ground. The view from Stakspi La (4950m) is wonderful. The decent to the north is sharp over rocky terrain to the grazing grounds. Another three hours trek leads to Alchi, our final destination, where we spend the night.
DAY 11: ALCHI TO LEH (69 Kms):-
The morning would be spent in visiting the Alchi monastery which has some of the rarest frescoes in the world. In the afternoon drive to Leh city, on arrival check in hotel.
DAY 12: LEISURE DAY:-
Today you will take rest at hotel. After lunch you will visit local market for shopping of some local products. Overnight stay at hotel.
DAY 13: DEPART DELHI (FLY OUT):-
Tour concludes. Travel To Himalaya thank you for your patronage and ensure a punctual transfer to International Airport to catch the flight for your onward journey towards home.
