This Challenging Trek focuses mainly on life of Nomadic People, Monasteries, Wildlife and some high altitude Lakes of Changthang. The Trek starts from Rumtse (4100m) a village in Eastern part of Ladakh and ends at Tsomoriri Lake, a beautiful High altitude lake in Changthang, which is also the breeding ground to birds like the Bar-necked geese and the Brahmin duck. It crosses three passes before Tsokar Lake and another three passes after Tsokar the salt Lake. The barren region is home to numerous species of wildlife including the wild Ass Skayng, Himalayan Marmot, Tibetan Antelope, and Himalayan Ibex. The duration of this trek is 9 days. Best time to undertake it is between June and September and high altitude which requires good acclimatization.
DAY 01: ARRIVE LEH:-
Upon arrival at Leh Kushok Bakula Rinpochey Airport you will met our representative and transfer to Hotel for Check in. Complete day for rest and leisure to acclimatize as Leh is at an altitude of 11500 feet.Overnight at Hotel.
DAY 02: LEH (EXCURSION TO MONASTERIES):-
Post Breakfast we proceed for Indus Valley Monastery of Shey Palace, The ancient capital of Ladakh, Thiksey Monastery an impressive monastery complex rising tier upon tier on a hill above the village ,Hemis Monastery and Stok Palace. Overnight at Hotel.
DAY 03: SHAM VALLEY TOUR UP TO ALCHI:-
After breakfast drive towards west of Leh visiting Hall Of Fame,Spituk Gompa further drive to Magnetic Hill(Defines Gravity),Sangam(Confluence of Zanskar & India River).Later we visit to Alchi monastery, it is one of the ancient monastery of Ladakh.The Gompa at Alchi is renowned for its massive Buddha statues, lavish wood-carvings and houses the only example of Kashmiri-style wall paintings in the area. There are also many chortens around the village.After visiting all above places we will drive back to Leh. Overnight in Hotel.
DAY 04: DAY HIKING(ACCLIMATIZATION):-
Today after the breakfast we go for a day hiking in purpose of Acclimatization. Visit Shanti Stupa(Peace Pagoda) build by Japanese Buddhism in 1982 in purpose of spread peace & harmony in the valley. Later we visit Sankar gompa.200 year old Shankar monastery, which contains a plethora of impressive images, wall paintings and sculptures, including a huge statue of Aloketesvara-with 1000 arms & heads,Namgyla palace and Leh Palace. Overnight in Hotel.
DAY 05: LEH TO RUMTSE :-
This journey starts after breakfast. We a drive to Rumtse around 85 kms from Leh near the Gya village. Stay overnight in camp at Rumtse.
DAY 06: TREK FROM RUMTSE TO KYAMER (4383m) 4-5 Hrs:-
Keep walking until you reach a Govt. Tourist bungalow; take right from here passing a valley and some deserted army huts. You now cross a river on your right. The trail takes you to a zigzag pattern of a river and its stream cutting your path from the right. As you make your way through, you cannot help but admire the scenic views that greet you from all sides. Crossing numerous valleys you will reach your campsite, near a local nomadic settlement.Overnight in camp.
DAY 07: KYAMAR TO TISALING VIA KYAMAR LA & MANDAL CHAN LA 5-6 Hrs:-
A few minutes’ walk from the camp leads you to long but easy climb of Kyumur La (4870m). It has colorful wildflowers that offer an amazing view. After reaching the top, you will see the trail divides into two, the left leads to Tsokar Lake and the right leads you to a stream. After crossing it, you climb another pass, a slightly hard path. After some time, you reach the top of Mandal Chan la (4996m). Going further downwards, you reach Tisaling, a valley that is a visual delight. Overnight in camp.
DAY 08: TISALING TO PANGUNAGU VIA SHIBUK LA (5016m) 5-6 Hrs:-
Today you will cross Shibuk La, near the camp. From the top of the pass, you get an amazing view of the Tsokar Lake. Going downwards to the lake, you reach the campsite, behind a hill.Overnight in camp.
DAY 09: PANGUNAGU TO NURUCHEN 4-5 Hrs:-
Walking along side the lake, through a road, you reach the sight of agricultural fields. Here is the next campsite, next to the stream.Overnight in camp.
DAY 10: NURUCHEN TO RACHUNG KARU VIA DUNDUNCHEN LA 3-5 Hrs:-
Today is an easy trail, after about an hour and a half, turn towards the northeast, and right after the pass. The camp is just across the river, at the bottom of the pass.Overnight in camp.
DAY 11: RACHUNG KARU TO GYAMA LHOMA 6-7 Hrs:-
Start a tiring climb of Kyamayur La (5125m-2 hrs). Moving towards the northeast, at the end of the valley, move upwards to another small pass called Gyama La (5100m). Have an amazing view of the snow- peaks. On descending towards the northeast, you cross the small river and after another, you reach Gyama lhoma. Cross it to reach the base for Korzok pass.Overnight in camp.
DAY 12: GYAMA LHOMA TO KORZOK(TSO MO RIRI LAKE)7-8 Hrs:-
Along the stream, start trekking to the Korzok passes. To reach the top, you will take 2 hrs where you get a wonderful view of the Lake. Take a steep walk down to Korzok village, where you will see nomad camps at Korzok Phu.
DAY 13: TSO MO RIRI TO LEH(240 kms-6hrs):-
Post breakfast; enjoy a stroll around the Lake. Later drive to Leh en-route Mahey Bridge and Chumathang.
DAY 14: LEASURE DAY IN LEH:-
Today we will have a leisure day at Leh.After breakfast walk to Old town and shopping in Leh market. Overnight in a hotel.
DAY 15: DEPARTURE LEH (FLY OUT):-
Tour concludes. Travel To Himalaya thank you for your patronage and ensure a punctual transfer to Domestic Airport to catch the flight for your onward journey towards home.
